Enter meter readings
Meter readings capture consumption per unit. SNDQ uses those readings when you distribute utility costs via a utility distribution key.
When to use this
- You open or close a consumption period (e.g. 01/03/2025 to 01/03/2026)
- You want to distribute water, electricity, gas, or heat costs by actual consumption
- Owners need a fair breakdown in the cost settlement
Steps
1. Open the building meters
- Go to Patrimony > open the building
- Open the Meters tab
- Choose Meter readings and the type (e.g. Water)
2. Add a meter (if needed)
- Click Add meter
- Link the meter to the correct unit
- Choose the utility type
3. Add a reading
- Click Add reading
- Fill in:
- Date of the reading (important)
- The reading value
- Save
Repeat for every unit in the building.
Tip for periods
Preferably enter a reading around the start date and around the end date of the consumption period you will later set on the utility distribution key. That way SNDQ can pick begin and end readings correctly.
How SNDQ uses readings later
When distributing, SNDQ looks up per meter:
- The reading closest to the period start date
- The reading closest to the period end date
- Within a 30-day tolerance
Consumption = end reading − start reading.
See Distribute utility costs by meter for examples.
